Hello friends!
Hope you all had a great weekend.
This year I was lucky enough to experience two different celebrations as some of my extended family is Jewish. I had never seen the lighting of a Menorah or the prayers said along with it before so that was special for me.
Happy Hanukah to my Jewish family and friends & Merry Christmas to my family and friends who are followers of Jesus Christ.
And to everyone else reading this, I hope you all are enjoying your holiday season and reconnecting with your family and friends in a meaningful way.
There will be a new poem for you all January 3rd along with our Monthly Group Chat to follow on January 7th at 6pm PST.
This week’s Tuesday Reflection is something new for you all. It begins with this question:
What spiritual nutrition works best for you?
I was speaking with a family member recently and we were discussing the the similarities between improving physical fitness and the path of deepening our spiritual strength.
As most of you are well aware, proper nutrition goes hand in hand with adequate physical exercise. I believe the same can be said for spiritual strength. One can face the challenges of life by acting upon their faith but without proper spiritual nutrition, how does one rejuvenate and strengthen themselves for their continued growth?
As I’ve stated in my bio on social media, “The forest is my home.” I find time outside in silence is great nutrition for my spirit. Another big part of my spiritual nutrition plan is choosing appreciation for the challenges I’m facing and the blessings I’m experiencing. Just like choosing better foods to put into my body, I choose to focus on appreciation more frequently which translates into feeling more of the benefits over the long term.
There are days I have some junk food or days I get frustrated with my circumstances but over time I am improving my nutrition on both fronts.
I’m also practicing cutting out more of the toxic foods and oils in my diet. Similarly I am becoming more mindful of the judgements and self doubts that creep into my life.
I want to invite you to see if you can imagine your spiritual nutrition in a similar way to your food choices.
