This poem fits perfectly for what I was going through recently for a couple of weeks, a very unsettling feeling, the grey, sad day came, looked at it for what it was, found the positive side, let the grey slowly fade away, cherished the positive! Wrote this poem to remind myself there will be grey days, to keep in touch with inner voice to guide me through.

Skies of Grey

Gray clouds slowly hide the morning light.

Light still shines behind the grey.

As time passes, skies clear

Sunshine comes to fill the day.

When life’s path bring grey skies

Trust, wait, have faith, meditate

Guidance will show the way

To let your light radiate.

Graham, prayers for your friend, hope the grey world fades and beautiful days come.

Wow ! This poem touched my heart deeply, this has always been a favorite of mine from your first book . I actually was reading this at the weekend as I was feeling a bit down as I’m going through something challenging at the moment. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that this was your poem of choice this week, it actually made me feel a bit better seeing this post. Thank you 🙏

I too felt the same way Irene when I saw that poem this morning. I gave my answer on the THC this morning. It spoke to me too, and i Was able to forgive someone that hurt me with her words a few weeks ago. Blessings, my friend……

Thank you for choosing this poem for this week, for me a very difficult week, but it will pass! 🙏

Both beautiful days and gray days are part of our life, we can't choose. But let's not forget this quote that I really like: "There will be good days, there will be bad days, but God will be in them all!" 🙏

There is a song that goes like this:

"I believe in the sun when it's not shining

I believe in love when I don't feel it

I believe in God when it's silent

I believe, I believe

I believe, I believe

The sun will shine tomorrow

I will feel love again

And God will speak to my heart

I believe in god"

So thank you for that poem again very fitting for the moment! I'm praying for your friend! 🙏

God bless you Graham! 🙏❤️

The eyes are the reflection of our soul.

A part of us is a witness of what we feel. The eyes speak for themselves, when we are sad we can see and feel it in our eyes even when we are happy, our eyes light up with joy but when we feel sad our eyes stream with tears, crying is not a feeling of weakness, there is no shame in crying on the contrary it's a natural feeling and it's human, we cry with joy too, we are human, one being with different ways of being and expressing ourselves, We do not express ourselves in the same way and fortunately I must say, we react differently to certain things, others are sensitive or even extra sensitive and their way of expressing themselves is to cry you know the eyes also speak do not feel obliged to say anything to defend yourself or just to say anything you do not need to say a single word the eyes speak for you. The eyes are the reflection of our soul when we look at someone in the eyes it is not his eyes that we look at but his soul that's why when I was little I didn't like to be looked in the eyes.

Thank you Graham for sharing this poem and your thoughts 🙏🏼

Ah, yes ~ to “Know Oneself” – to be Self-Aware – without judging -- is definitely the key to handling both life’s gifts and challenges. I just wrote a lighthearted story about this in my blog – about me being navigationally- challenged. Ha ha! When we “see” our strengths and weaknesses, we can be gentler with ourselves -- ironically, making ourselves stronger. I carry a small black & white photo of myself as a little girl in my billfold reminding me to love myself especially when I’m having hard times. It’s easier to talk to her nicely. ~ Jan xoxo

I remember reading that poem in the book. It is right on as yesterday was one of those days, but I'm reminded this morning after prayer and reading the scriptures, God sees the bigger picture and He will allow me to persevere according to His guidance. Thank you Graham. This is so true!

This poem does a beautiful job of describing what I call my voice of reality. Often if I am sad or challenged my outward appearance is a facade that does not reflect my inner feelings. If I am feeling really good I may temper that because others around me may not be in a good place. But my inner voice of reality always speaks to me, guides me and I cannot hide from it. It is that voice of truth that moves me through the experiences of life. Without it I am lost. Thank you Graham for another inspirational poem as we journey through life.

This Tuesday Reflection is so appropriate for me today because I am experiencing a deep sadness about what most of you will consider silly or insignificant. I have a gorgeous 100 + year old chestnut oak tree right in in my front yard that I truly love. It is enormous and its canopy shades my whole house. Well, it has to come down! Three of its

main limbs are as large as most average trees! One of those branches hangs over my house and it has been compromised at the base where it is attached to the main trunk of the tree. It is starting to pull away from the tree trunk which eventually will fall off and do tremendous damage to my house ( not to mention the root system is undermining my foundation and paved driveway). I am heartbroken 💔). In comparison to all the things going on in the world today that brings heartbreak and sorrow I know this is so petty and I apologize for my selfish behavior. However, the memories of all the times spent climbing that tree , playing in the leaf piles in the fall, swinging from the old swing hanging from the strong limbs, and the list goes on... That tree has been one of my best “friends “ since I was 5 years old. Tomorrow she will be gone and there will be tears , but the loving memories will be with me for ever. I am thankful for that! Thank you, Graham for this insightful and prayers for your friend.

Boy, I get that, Karen. Our huge tree got struck by lightning & I cried. It’s pretty straggly now, but hanging on. I guess you should have some kind of party tomorrow to celebrate the years you did have with your friend. Oh, and save some of the wood for some beautiful art piece. {{ Hugs}}

Thank you , Jan for your kind words and sharing your story about your tree. Mine is down now and it changes the whole landscape of my front yard. I am going through a bit of grieving and I not ashamed of it but I am a little surprised. I did not have a party but I did have a glass of wine and made a toast of thanksgiving for a lifetime of beautiful times spent with loved ones under the canopy of my old friend my lovely chestnut oak tree!

Karen, I understand. We have a huge oak that's over 100 years old that has died. It has to be cut down. We are so sad about it too. For years it's shaded my round pen where I gave riding lessons. It has shaded our swing and the area where we tack up our horses. Plus it's been the first thing people see when they turn to drive up our driveway. It was huge and beautiful. Huge limbs like you describe on your tree. Lightning has hit it several times and finally it's completely dead.

Karen Knox's avatar

Thank you for sharing your story. It makes me feel better knowing there are other people who feel the way I do about things we love! I I am sorry for your loss as well.

I felt the same way when a beautiful huge box elder tree had to come down in our front yard. So many years of providing shade and shelter. I still miss that tree!

Karen Knox's avatar

Thanks for your kind words and I am sorry you had to give up your tree as well. I am glad there are others who feel the same way I do about things you love.

Oh Graham this poem kind of my feelings this past Sunday life’s challenges. It’s true that our reactions to challenging situations often reveals aspects of our character and mindset and in a round about way a reflection of our entire being. While we can strive to fill our cup of life, with positivity, resilience, and kindness, it’s important to acknowledge that external factors such as trauma, mental health conditions, and other life circumstances can impact our ability to control our thoughts and emotions. That being said, cultivating positive qualities within ourselves is still crucial step in our personal growth journey. Instead of trying to control every aspect of our cups , we can focus on developing habits and improving that promote positivity and resilience. This might include practicing gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion towards ourselves and others, seeking support from our loved ones, and engaging in activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. Witnessing my feelings from my challenging situations last Sunday may not define me/ us completely, we can still choose to cultivate positive qualities within ourselves that will help us navigate life’s ups and downs. By focusing on actionable steps and strategies, we can work towards becoming the best version of ourselves and living a fulfilling life.Cheers!

I remember this poem reading it in your book, Graham. One day can be good and another can be not so good. This is life and we are always being challenged. I say in my prayers I will keep God close and it keeps me grounded. I pray for your friend that it will get better. I pray for you and our loving and caring community!❤️❤️❤️

Yes I am able to sense the part of me that's just watching like it's separate from me yet still me. I believe this part helps me endure the really hard days because it can sort of disengage and see things from a safe distance. Or maybe it's always disengaged and just watching the good and the bad days unfolding? I don't know. I do believe it's the spirit me. The one that has life eternal and that helps me feel safe. ✨️

Some days I don't know how I'm feeling, I learn a long time ago that I'm a survivor who can create a positive attitude and high energy levels to overcome any storm that life throws in my path. As a woman, sometimes someone is sitting beside me, other times I'm alone, searching those rough patches of my soul to find the strength and resilience to overcome what I must face when the time comes. But I will find the beauty in life that surrounds me, because negative thoughts and darkness can easily be push aside in my eyes. Thanks so much for sharing your poems, and hope your friend finds a solution as well.
