Hello, and welcome to part 2 of our two-part conversation on film and the movie industry. I’m Cyan, and together Graham and I create these conversation-style video newsletters. Question: Hardest scene you’ve ever had to play?

Answer: “The death of Ty’s dad. That was really hard. And the plane crash scene, where Ty and Scott are in the plane crash.”

Beyond Rumours: Understanding the Stories We Choose

In part 1, we talked about separating fact from fiction, especially when it comes to stories people want to believe. In this edition, we go a layer deeper. Graham and I explore why people cling to certain narratives and how you can tune in to your own heart to find what feels true.

Graham explained that people often gravitate toward stories, rumours, or narratives that confirm what they want to believe. These stories may validate a feeling or help people avoid facing something uncomfortable in their own lives.

Below, Graham shares his personal experience with not following his heart,

“I was in a situation where someone told me something I wanted to hear. If I had tuned in and listened to my heart, I would’ve known it wasn’t true. I ignored my heart and listened to my head because it fit the life and belief system I wanted.

When the truth came out, I thought, ‘How did I miss this?’ It was because I wasn’t tuned in. I wasn’t listening. I wasn’t present.

Since then, I’ve learned how important it is to check in with my heart and feel the truth. Some people call it a vibration. You’ll know it when you stand still, breathe, and just be. If it doesn’t make sense right away, don’t rush it.

Over time, the truth emerges. It’s felt in the heart first, and then it makes sense logically.”

Following Passion

On the topic of listening to your heart, I asked Graham what advice he would give to someone who is wanting to start following a passion, whether that be beginning to make films or write a book.

Graham emphasized that you can’t let anyone else dictate when or how you practice what you love. You do not need permission to do things that you enjoy, and you need the release the fear of being bad.

“The beautiful thing is that if it’s a good story, people will forgive you for a shaky camera or a grainy picture.”

He also encouraged you to get honest about what you truly love in storytelling, writing, or acting. If the motivation is “I just want a big hit” or “I want to feel valuable because I don’t feel that way inside” then the creative path can become a search for external validation rather than genuine expression.

Graham shared that, for many people, his younger self included, the desire to enter creative fields often stems from a lack of self-worth or self-love. We imagine that if we make that something everyone else admires, then we’ll finally feel worthy or loved.

But when the impulse comes from a different place, when you feel inspired, when you can’t stop thinking about making films, when you genuinely love the process, then nothing can get in your way. That’s the place he encourages you to create from.

This two-part series has focused on the film industry. Graham shared that he envisions it being a part of his future, whether through creating his own films or continuing to act. Coupled with his podcast, poetry, and other creative projects, it’s clear he expresses himself in many different ways. So I asked him:

If you could create your own dream film project without any limitations, budget constraints, anything, what would it look like?

“I have thought a lot about this and for many years I have written different scripts in my life and had fun times exploring things. One that I’m excited about creating comes from a reoccurring dream that I’ve had about flying. This dream has evolved to now where I am teaching people how to fly.

The film I want to make is from this perspective of what it means to fly, because there’s a deep metaphor there for me. Many times in my life I have got outside my comfort zone and I’ve participated in something or faced a fear and then I come out of it and I feel like I was on top of the world, like I could fly.”

“The film would capture that state of being so fully alive in the present moment, when you’ve faced your fears, moved through what once held you back, and feel as though you could lift off and fly

The premise is you have to feel no self-doubt, you have to completely love yourself, and then you have to look where you want to go. Those are the three rules in my dream of how to fly, which is funny because it’s exactly what I feel like are good principles for navigating your life.”

Technology & Its Influence

It wouldn’t be a conversation about film without touching on the impact of changing technology and artificial intelligence (AI). Graham expressed that these conversations are important to have:

“Technology will continue to change every aspect of our lives because it changes how we express ourselves.”

If you look at the film industry, gradual change has been a constant with improvements to cameras, special effects, lighting, and more. These advancements have made movies what they are today, think Avatar or Superman. What is new, is the accelerated rate of change because of AI. This is relatively uncharted territory and it’s important to consider its impact on the film industry and beyond.

Graham shared how he views AI as both a tool and a threat. He personally uses AI as a tool for brainstorming, organizing thoughts, and proofreading, but it can’t replace the reflective practices of journaling, walking, praying, or talking to yourself.

He also raised an important caution: OpenAI plans to introduce ads in ChatGPT, using chat history, even deleted chats, to target users. Essentially, if you’re using the free version, you are the product. This raises concerns about privacy and the creation of detailed personality profiles that could be misused.

“AI is a wonderful tool if it celebrates your humanity, if it allows you to continue to grow.”

Graham warned that if storytelling with AI is driven only by the desire to make more stories cheaply for profit, we risk a world flooded with low-quality content with little real value. Technology will keep evolving and opening doors for new creators, but with that freedom comes the risk of mass-producing stories that are irrelevant and empty. In the video below, he gives an example that perfectly captures the difference between AI-generated films and those made by humans.

Hello and welcome to another edition of the video newsletter. If you’re new here, this is a unique format where I, , sit down with for an interview, then share our conversation through a mix of video clips, photos, and writing. If you’re a returning reader, thank you for joining us again.

In this edition, Graham and I dive into his acting career, focusing on his time on the television show, Heartland. We talk about what that role meant to him, the personal circumstances that led to his decision to leave the show, and he also takes the opportunity to clear up some of the rumours and misconceptions that have surrounded his departure.

Now, let’s get into it!

Playing Ty Borden in Heartland

Heartland is a Canadian television series set on a fictional ranch in the Alberta foothills and follows the Fleming-Bartlett family as they care for horses, face challenges together, and celebrate the bonds of family and community. Graham played Ty Borden, who first arrived at the Heartland ranch as part of his parole. Over time, Ty’s story became one of transformation - discovering real friendships, love, a father figure, and ultimately finding his place in the world after a difficult start in life.

Reflecting on that role, Graham shared:

“It was a beautiful journey to play a character that goes through that transformation and learns his lessons and goes through his challenges and faces his demons as well.”

When I asked him about the early days of Heartland, Graham recalled:

“I auditioned for the part of Ty back in 2008, and getting the job shocked me - I had never booked a TV pilot before. A pilot is essentially a test episode and while we had a lot of fun filming it, experienced actors warned me not to get my hopes up because it might never go further. But the show was picked up, and I ended up staying for 14 seasons. I’m incredibly grateful for the impact Heartland had on my life. It gave me a platform, connected me with a worldwide audience in over 100 countries, and created lasting relationships with the amazing people I worked alongside. I’ll always carry deep respect and gratitude for that chapter of my life.”

I was interested to know about some of Graham’s favourite moments from filming Heartland.

“Some of my favourite moments on Heartland actually happened in between filming, while we were waiting for the cameras to be set up. There’s a lot of downtime on set, and often we’d just be sitting together under the hot sun. Shaun Johnston would pull out his guitar, and sometimes Amber Marshall would join in singing. We’d listen, talk, read, or just be together in those quiet moments.”

Graham noted that some of his favourite memories weren’t just the scenes themselves, but the creative process in between. He recalled riding in the shuttle van with Shaun, where they would dive into the script together - asking questions like “What do you think this means?” or “I’m struggling with this part, how do you see it?” They would workshop the dialogue, searching for that spark that made a moment come alive. Graham said he’s deeply grateful to have worked alongside actors who shared his commitment to authenticity, and that those were the moments that stayed with him most.

In the video below, Graham reflects further on the effort that went into making their characters feel genuine, even within the framework of a scripted television show.

A Decision from the Heart

As our conversation moved toward Graham’s decision to leave Heartland in Season 14, he explained that the choice was deeply personal. It wasn’t about stepping away from the show itself, but about honouring his own well-being and following a new calling. As he put it:

“I think it’s so important to tell this story because it really was for my own mental health. I felt called to share my journey, to speak about the sacredness of life, and to break free from the roles and identities we cling to that mask wounds needing our care and attention.”

Graham shared that stepping into a character can be healthy if you’re grounded in self-love and self-respect; you can move into a role and then return to yourself. But for him, the role of Ty became something different. Having experienced trauma in his past, he hadn’t yet learned to love or respect himself, and acting became a way to escape the parts of his life he didn’t want to face.

As Ty’s popularity grew, Graham began to identify more with the character than with himself. Fans would ask for a photo with ‘Ty,’ and instead of separating his identity from the role, he leaned into the external validation that came with it. Being recognized made him feel valued and loved, things he hadn’t yet given himself. Over time, though, that dynamic became unhealthy, as the character began to substitute for Graham’s own healing, growth, and self-reflection.

In the video below, Graham explains that the decision to leave Heartland was a difficult one and it didn’t happen overnight - he had thoughts about leaving as early as Season 10. By Season 13, he was sure of his decision, and plans were made for Ty’s exit. Together with the writers, it was decided that the only way to do Ty justice was for the character to die a tragic, yet heroic death.

For fans who had followed Ty’s journey from troubled teenager to devoted husband and father, his death in Season 14 was heartbreaking. Yet it became a powerful turning point for the series, allowing his wife Amy to grow through loss while preserving Ty’s legacy as a man who always put his family first. While some fans wished for a different ending, Graham reflects that leaving Ty alive but absent would have felt less true to the character.

Graham reflects on Ty’s death scene and how it was actually his stunt double and how in Season 14 the only part he would play was that of a ghost. To hear his full reflections and reasoning, watch below.

Finding Stillness

After Graham opened up about how playing Ty became a way to escape parts of himself he hadn’t yet healed, I wanted to explore that further. Many people pour so much of themselves into their work that it can become a substitute for facing their own struggles, or even a way of losing touch with who they truly are. I asked him,

What advice would you give to people who find themselves in a similar place, pouring so much of themselves into a career that it becomes an escape, or even a way of losing part of who they are? Knowing what you know now, how would you encourage them to navigate that?

In response to the above question, Graham noted that one of the most important lessons he’s learned is developing a relationship with stillness. He explained that many struggles can be eased by slowing down, being present, and honestly facing what’s happening within. Looking back, he admitted he could feel things beneath the surface but didn’t yet have the courage to confront them.

For those in a similar place, Graham encouraged sitting with your thoughts - through stillness, prayer, or reflection - and asking meaningful questions like “Is this really who I am? What can I learn from this?” rather than spiralling into unhelpful ones like “Why does this always happen to me?”

Ways to Build a Relationship with Stillness

• Prayer – Create space to connect spiritually and centre yourself. Say your prayer and then take the time to listen to the stillness.

• Meditation – The simple act of focusing on your breath and being present with what is. Relaxing and releasing as thoughts and emotions emerge. Even a few minutes a day can help quiet the mind and bring awareness inward.

• Mindful Walks – Step outside without headphones or distractions, simply noticing the sights and sounds around you.

• Time with Animals – Walking your dog, riding your horse, or simply sitting quietly with a pet can ground you in the present moment.

• Journaling – Write down what’s on your mind, or reflect through questions like, “What am I feeling right now?” or “What can I learn from this?”.

As Graham put it, the simplest but most powerful advice is to be present with yourself, step into stillness, and allow clarity to emerge.

Separating Fact from Fiction

Since leaving Heartland, rumours have continued to circulate about Ty, Graham’s departure, and other aspects of his personal life. Graham wanted to address these directly and set the record straight. In the video below, he also explains why these rumours keep resurfacing year after year and reflects on how he has learned to navigate the ongoing attention and speculation.

After hearing about Graham’s journey with Heartland and how he’s grown since leaving, I asked if he still wants to act and what that might look like now. He shared:

“I definitely plan to return to filmmaking, bringing lessons I’ve learned about serving the story and speaking truth. I want to create projects that help people reconnect with themselves, even if it’s sometimes challenging, while also celebrating the beauty and joy of life. The best stories, to me, balance reflection and healing with laughter, memorable moments, and the simple wonders of life.”

My name is Cyan, and every so often I sit down with Graham to chat about his personal life, recent thoughts, and whatever else he feels inspired to share. I then shape those conversations into a newsletter, blending words, videos, and photos to bring it all to life.

This format is a joy for both Graham and me. When we sat down for this interview, I had a guiding topic in mind and a sense of where the conversation might go. But as Graham began to share his opening thoughts, the conversation naturally evolved into a new direction. I decided to follow it and I’m glad I did. What unfolded was a beautiful, engaging exchange. So, without further ado, let’s dive in.

Life Lately

When Graham and I sat down to chat, he had recently returned to Canada from Australia. After spending time with his family in British Columbia, he made his way back to Alberta, where he’s been enjoying reconnecting with friends.

“I have been happy to just see old faces, friendly faces and connecting in with people here.”

Alongside catching up with friends, Graham has been podcasting and soaking up the outdoors of Alberta.

“The most recent podcast I shot was with Julien Lepage and we went out into the woods at Cat Creek and set up right by the river, over the creek. Julien was playing his double barrel flute and I had this box thing (Shruti Box) that had this like drone sound. And then Tyrone had a drum and we just played music to start the podcast. It was so fun, I loved it.”

Surrendering to the Uncontrollable

I asked Graham whether he prefers filming podcasts in a studio or outdoors. He explained that the studio offers a controlled environment—he can set up his lighting and gear exactly how he likes, and there are fewer outside factors that could disrupt the process. This allows him to focus fully on the conversation, without worrying about external distractions.

Still, filming outside combines two of his passions: filmmaking and the outdoors.

“I can't always film outdoors but when I can, I just can't get enough of it.”

Of course, the outdoors comes with its own set of variables, bugs, passing people, changing weather, that require a heightened level of focus and, as Graham puts it, a willingness to surrender. In the video below, he shares more about this idea of surrender, both when filming and in life.

Learning to Flex and Flow

Transitioning from the topic of surrendering while filming outdoors, Graham spoke about the importance of flexibility, a skill he believes is essential in both work and life.

“I think this is relevant in so many areas of life where we have systems or levels of comfort and we try to eliminate all the unpredictability in life. I understand that there is some value in that you want to know that your house is going to be there when you come home from work and it's the same place. If you were trying to find a new place to sleep every night, it would be tedious. It would be very difficult. So to some degree, it's important that we have consistency. But it becomes a problem when that desire for the mind to control everything and have everything consistent and known and in a box goes too far. Then when something goes wrong, we don't know what to do because we're not used to learning how to flex and flow.”

Can you share an example of a moment when being flexible has led to a positive outcome in your personal life?

Graham draws on his experiences as a podcast host, an actor on CBC’s Heartland, and simply as a human navigating life. As an actor, he recalls times when he would arrive on set ready to film a specific scene, only to find that the way it was written wasn’t working for one reason or another. Learning to let go of the original plan and completely switch gears was a skill he had to develop over time.

“If you don't have a plan, then plan to fail. And then when you have a plan, be ready to throw it out as soon as change comes.”

In the video below, Graham uses the analogy of a plant growing, you can support it as much as you like, but ultimately, it will grow in its own way. He also reflects on how artificial intelligence may influence our ability to remain flexible throughout the creative process.

Learning to Listen

In discussing flexibility, Graham emphasized the importance of being in tune with yourself. He explained that the answers often come from being honest and present with yourself, and truly listening.

He shared a story about wanting to buy a fitness tracker, even though he’s owned several in the past and rarely used them. He became convinced he needed one and set off to find it. After visiting three stores where they were sold out, he finally found one—but in bright orange, a colour he said he would never wear.

In that moment, Graham realized it was a message: he didn’t actually need the fitness tracker. He chose to stop trying so hard and accept the message.

While this idea makes sense in theory, it’s often easier said than done. So I asked Graham for advice on how to become more attuned to those little nudges. In the video below, he explains how to open yourself up to let those messages come through.

Welcome in! My name is Cyan and every now and then, I sit down with Graham for a conversation that traces where he’s been and where he’s headed. We dive into stories from the past, ideas he’s exploring now, and whatever else comes up along the way.

Life Lately

In the last newsletter, Graham and his partner, Paola, were wrapping up the final stretch of their East Coast road trip through Australia. When asked about the contrast between life on the move and being rooted in one place, Graham shared that he finds value in both rhythms:

“The travel keeps me light in all my toes and at home keeps gives me that consistency and expansion. So I like a bit of both.”

Graham and Paola have since returned to Sydney where he has focused his attention to new projects, new podcasts, developing systems and routines for consistency with both Time Has Come and Divine Timing.

In a couple of weeks, Graham will be heading back to Canada for about a month before returning to Australia. While there, he’s linking up with long-time friend and collaborator Kerry James to co-create a new feature film.

“We have planned a rendezvous. We're going to meet up and write this new script that we're working on for a film. So I'm very excited about that and working with him again and probably some other old friends as well on a new feature film.”

He’s also looking forward to time with family — including celebrating his mom’s birthday — and possibly heading out on a road trip through the Okanagan and Alberta with his parents.

“It's a beautiful blessing to be able to spend time with your parents. So I try my very best to spend as much time with them as I can when I'm around and in their vicinity.”

Rooted in Family

Since Graham will soon be seeing his parents, I asked him to reflect on the most meaningful lessons that his Mom and Dad have taught him. While there have been many over the years, one that stands out from his mom is the importance of awareness and attentiveness to others,

“Don't get lost in your own thoughts, in your own head and be self-absorbed. Be aware, learn, listen. Have your attention in the room and in the space to grow and to see what's going on with other people and to learn so that you can contribute something of value as opposed to just nattering off about whatever you want.”

He also spoke about his mom’s deep spirituality and how her unwavering faith has shaped his own curiosity about life’s bigger questions. While they have slightly different perspectives, their conversations remain a part of their connection,

“She's been the pivotal anchor point for me in diving deeper into spirituality. Who is God? What is God? What is this life about? Who am I? How is this all connected? Those questions all started with my mom. So that's a beautiful gift that she's given me is because of how important her faith is in her life.”

Graham also shared an appreciation for his dad’s parenting style which was subtle yet intentional. Rather than pointing out what Graham was doing wrong, his dad often chose to guide through gentle perspective shifts that left room for self-reflection.

“I had just done a couple of commercials and made some money. I was young and spending a lot of it on shoes or toys. One day, Dad came into my room with a piece of paper covered in images of $50 bills. He said, ‘Just so you know, this is about how much you spent this week on those things.’ Then he added, ‘That’s about as much as so-and-so earns in a week.’

He didn’t say I shouldn’t spend it, and he didn’t shame me, he just gave me context. And I was like, okay, That’s good to know. I was receptive to it.”

Graham also credits his Dad for instilling a deep love of nature. From Cub Scouts camping trips to simple moments outdoors, his dad had a way of making the natural world feel alive and full of magic. The Early Days of Acting

I was curious whether acting was something Graham’s parents had encouraged, or if it was a path he found on his own. He shared that he and his five siblings initially took part in photoshoots for flyer advertisements, and thanks to a mix of timing and opportunity, he ended up auditioning for his first commercial, and landed the role!

From an early age, Graham was captivated by the world of film, a fascination he reflects on more in the video below.

Between Character and Self

In 2007, Graham was cast as Ty Borden on Heartland, a long-running CBC series centered on life at a horse ranch. At the time, he was in college studying film and television when the opportunity to act in the show came along. Over the next 14 seasons, Graham would go on to play one of the show’s lead roles.

Despite the country, horse-centric setting of Heartland, Graham admits he was unfamiliar with that world at first:

“I’d never ridden a horse before. So I was ignorant in many ways, where I didn't think people actually still rode horses for fun and did that kind of stuff. When I learned about that, I was like, whoa, this is a massive culture and a big part of life for a lot of people. I'm just going to keep my mouth shut about this because I feel embarrassed that I didn't know that. So there was an adjustment on that part. And in terms of playing the character, he was similar to some degree to aspects of myself.”

In the video below, Graham reflects more deeply on the parallels between himself and Ty, and how like with many long-term roles it can be easy to lose parts of yourself in the work. He speaks to the strength it takes to stay grounded, not hide behind a role, and remain present in your own life even while immersed in someone else’s story.

An Update from the Australian Road

In our last newsletter, Graham had just set out on his road trip in Australia with Paola (). Since then they have made it all the way to Daydream Island in the Whitsundays, and at the time Graham and I chatted for this edition they had just arrived in Byron Bay on their way back to Sydney.

Reflecting on the overall experience of the trip Graham shared that Byron Bay stood out as one of his favourite spots,

“It’s pretty hippie and relaxed. There’s lots of good, surfers, families, and just lots of just quality experiences that has allowed me to have a lot of fun.”

Collaboration and Individual Creativity

During their road trip, Graham and Paola launched a new podcast together called . Since Graham had been hosting Time Has Come solo, inviting his own guests and leading the conversations, I was curious how he felt about the new dynamic of collaborating on a creative project like podcasting. Graham shared,

“The main difference is the collaboration of much more intimate conversations around topics that we are collectively inspired by. Time Has Come is a focus of mine, a passion project for exploring these topics that are important to me: getting outside your comfort zone, carving your own path, tuning into the present moment, giving thanks for the sacredness of life. Divine Timing on the other-hand, has also been a beautiful experience with Paola because we get to talk about the things that we love to talk about, just exploring themes and topics that resonate with us that we think would be really valuable to share conversations with others.”

I then asked Graham if co-hosting came with any challenges, especially since he's used to having full creative control, from choosing guests to steering the conversation. He reflected:

“The challenges arise when maybe we haven't fully vocalized the specifics of how we want to approach it or what we think it could be. So the overcoming of those challenges is just talking about it just being like, okay, well, what is this about?”

Letting Go, Leaning In

As Graham’s road trip was winding down, I asked him to reflect on the journey and what it had taught him. He emphasized that one of the biggest lessons was the importance of flexibility, especially when it comes to his creative work.

“I don't have a podcast studio trailer that I pull down the road with me so normally shoot stuff outside. That means I sometimes get birds cawing in the background or people passing by, but I’ve learned to just roll with it. There’s not much I can do, and honestly, it always turns out just fine.”

Graham went on to say that there was one podcast interview that he had scheduled to do on the road but with different variables like timing and weather, he had to postpone it.

“You can make plans and prepare as best you can, but then comes a deeper level of surrender. Like, okay, it’s raining. We can’t shoot outside, and there’s no space inside the motorhome. So what now? That’s what I love about creative work: you show up, you set things in motion, and sometimes it still doesn’t go the way you envisioned. And that’s okay because sometimes something unexpected is waiting around the corner, maybe even something better.”

If you're new here, I'm Cyan. I sit down with Graham for in-depth conversations, then turn those chats into a written newsletter, complete with video highlights from our interviews.

In this issue, we're sharing Graham’s latest adventure as he travels through Australia. With this new chapter underway, we’ve decided to shift gears and bring you shorter, more frequent updates.

Arrival and Initial Impressions

When Graham and I sat down to chat, he had already been in Australia for a month. He was just starting another new adventure, a month-long road trip with his co-pilot, Paola Sellaro (@equilibrium_intuitive). At the time of our conversation, they were in Fisherman’s Bay, planning a route that would take them north along the east coast, all the way to the Whitsundays. Graham is excited to put his new 360 camera to good use, so you can expect to see some great photos and videos!

Since Graham had been in the country for a month, I was interested to know what his favourite parts were so far. He quickly noted the food, especially the produce,

“They have massive avocados! In Canada we have small avocado that are the size of a squash ball that we pay like $5 for. On the other hand in Australia, the avocados are huge and all their produce is fantastic. A lot of the food is grown here too which is great.”

As well Graham noted that,

“Before leaving for the road trip, I was hanging out in Bondi Beach, spending lots of time in the water, playing around the water there, riding bikes, really just having fun.”

Graham has also found it pretty entertaining to adjust to the Australian accent and local slang. There have been a few funny moments, like when someone asked Graham for directions using a thick accent and slang. It all made sense once the man realized Graham wasn’t a local!

Graham has also been picking up on some of the everyday language differences too. In Canada, we say ‘Do you think?’ but in Australia, it’s ‘You reckon?’ And where we’d say ‘How are you doing?’, Aussies go with ‘How you going?’

Adventure and Tourism Activities

While Graham and Paola are driving a motor home for their road trip, they also brought a e-bike which has been great for exploring new places. As Graham takes in Australia through the eyes of a tourist, he’s been intrigued by all kinds of activities, from camel rides and horseback riding on the beach to sand dune surfing.

I was curious to find out what type of tourist Graham is and if he enjoys the adventure tourism side of things, like learning new skills such as surfing. In the video below, Graham talks about his excitement to give surfing a try and how he views the sport as a metaphor for life.

Lessons Learned: Environment and Energy

Graham shared how this trip has really made him realize how deeply his surroundings impact his well-being. As he set out on his road trip, he immediately felt a shift as soon as he left the city and reconnected with nature. He spoke about how environments like the ocean or the forest feel nourishing to his soul, in contrast to the city life he experienced early in his career.

Navigating Change

Leaving Canada for Australia was a big leap for Graham, one that naturally came with its share of uncertainty. So, I was curious to ask what advice he’d offer to anyone facing a big, possibly daunting life change.

Graham spoke about the power of slowing down, quieting the mind, and tuning in to the heart. In the video below, he shares a thoughtful reflection on navigating change, drawn from his own experience.

Here in Canada, Spring is starting to show itself. Though it may not be here to stay just yet, the warmer days are a welcome change after the cold, dark winter months. Wherever you're reading this from, I hope you're finding moments of warmth and renewal in your own way.

If you're new here, welcome! My name is Cyan, and I create this newsletter by weaving together mixed media, based on the interview-style conversations that Graham and I have. Our latest discussion was centred around trusting the unknown—a theme that’s especially relevant for Graham right now as he has just moved to Australia!

From excitement to uncertainty, we all navigate seasons of change in our own way. This conversation offers a glimpse into how embracing the unknown can lead to growth, resilience, and new perspectives.

Trusting the Unknown

To trust the unknown means embracing uncertainty, letting go of control, and having faith that the journey will lead to growth and new opportunities, even without knowing the outcome.

When asked to recount a moment in the last year in which he had to trust the unknown, Graham explained that there hasn’t been just one pivotal moment,

“It's been a continual process of trusting and stepping off into the unknown and that's what's beautiful about it is that it's not a one-time thing, it's a continual thing.”

He then revisits the moment when he made the life-changing decision to leave Heartland, where he had played Ty Borden for 14 seasons,

“That was the first time I consciously made a choice to trust in the unknown and move into it.”

Graham shared that leaving the show was a deliberate choice to embrace the unknown, which ultimately deepened his connection with a higher power. You can hear more of his thoughts on this in the video below.

The Heart Versus Mind

When navigating uncertainties, there is a balance between following your heart and listening to your mind. It's not always an easy decision, and sometimes it requires tuning into both intuition and logic

Graham explained that following the heart isn't about simply following emotions, but rather about feeling a calling to do something and trusting your intuition. He emphasized that the mind plays a crucial role in navigating life effectively. It's not about living emotionally, but finding a balance where intuition is respected and the mind helps guide decisions and planning.

“The key that I've learned is that it's a constant checking in and being present with what's going on inside. What am I feeling? What am I intuiting about what's happening.”

It’s a continuous process of tuning in and adjusting, with a clear goal in mind but a willingness to adapt as the journey unfolds.

Practices to help cultivate balance between the heart and mind

• Heart-Centered Meditation – Focus on your heart during meditation to connect intuition with clarity.

• Mindful Decision-Making – Pause and check in with both heart and mind when making decisions.

• Gratitude Practice – Reflect daily on things you're grateful for to center the heart and mind.

• Visualization – Visualize viable options to balance intuition and logic.

• Creative Writing – Journal to express both rational thoughts and emotional insights.

Confronting and Overcoming Fear

When life presents us with a new direction—an opportunity to step into the unknown—it's natural to feel fear. Fear of making the wrong choice, fear of disappointing others, even fear of leaving behind what feels familiar and safe. These moments of uncertainty can be overwhelming, making us question whether we should take the leap or stay where we are.

But Graham points out that fear isn’t something to ignore. Instead, it can serve as a guide, revealing deeper truths about ourselves and what truly matters.

“It is important to step into fear, acknowledge it, and find the root cause.”

He shares a personal experience of confronting fear, highlighting the importance of facing it head-on in the video below.

Guidance for When You Feel Stuck

For many of us, feeling stuck comes from living within a familiar identity and routine that feels safe and comfortable. Often, the uncertainty about moving forward stems from unconsciously outsourcing our power—our sense of identity and self-worth—to external factors like our job, relationships, or social circles. The fear of stepping into the unknown isn’t just about change; it’s about the risk of losing the external validation that has defined us.

Graham shares the importance of:

“Coming home to yourself and choosing yourself, not in a selfish ‘I don't care about what other people think or feel’ way, but instead saying, ‘I'm going to honour what I'm feeling and value myself.’”

When asked what advice he would offer to someone feeling uncertain about their next steps, Graham shares several key insights, including:

• Finding Stillness: It's important to take the time to enjoy your own company and find stillness within yourself. In those quiet moments, you can reconnect with your true essence.

• Developing Your Own Compass: Graham encourages us to develop our own internal compass—trusting ourselves to guide the way, without relying solely on external influences or validation.

• Choosing Your Path: Sometimes, the best way to move forward is to simply try something new, without the pressure of going all the way. As Graham puts it, “I wanted to explore something,” and even if it didn’t lead to the final destination, the experience itself was worth it.

I hope that wherever you are in the world, November has brought you a sense of contentment. For those of you experiencing the shift to winter, as we are here in Canada, I hope you’re finding ways to nurture yourselves before the cold, shorter days ahead.

My name is Cyan, and I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Graham for an interview-style conversation, which Graham has asked me to convert into this newsletter. Since he is an actor, photographer, podcast host, and author, I wanted to focus this newsletter around the idea of creativity. Many people don’t think of themselves as creative, but by the end of this newsletter, the hope is that you’ll see creativity as something we all possess in unique ways and that it can be useful in the individual healing process.

What is Creativity?

Everyone has their own idea of what creativity means to them and Graham’s individual interpretation is that,

“Creativity is about expressing your true self. It’s a form of play and discovery, free from pressure. It’s the freedom to let whatever comes through you flow into the world—whether through your voice, hands, or words. It’s how our soul expresses itself physically, like giving birth to something new, and it can take many different forms.”

Graham’s explanation of creativity transcends traditional examples that we typically hear, like writing, drawing, or podcasting. Instead, it highlights creativity as an intrinsic aspect of being human. This perspective reminds us that creativity is not confined to specific activities, but can emerge in countless forms. Often, we think of being creative as something we are or are not. In this conversation Graham discusses that we need to break free from that narrative.

“We're all creative, but we may have belief systems about what creativity is ‘supposed’ to look like. And what I love about it is that once we get past those false belief systems, that lie, then it unveils itself to us as something innate. It's within all of us, and it's such a beautiful thing to be able to express what you're feeling beyond the words, beyond the mind.”

Creativity and Healing

Creativity has long been intertwined with emotion, often serving as a channel for people’s emotions. Whether through poetry, songs, or other forms of art, these creations often emerge from places of vulnerability, joy, or pain. This connection between creativity and emotion made me curious about the impact it can have on a person’s healing journey, so I asked Graham if he thinks that the creative and healing processes influence each other.

Graham answered,

“Yes, the creative process and the healing process are deeply intertwined. I think it's a beautiful thing that they are, because so much art that I have resonated with or wanted to create is reflective of my own journey, is reflective of what I'm going through, what I'm processing, how I'm healing, and what I've learned.”

Creativity in an Acting Role

Given the various ways that creativity is practiced by Graham, I was interested to know if there were specific moments where creativity and healing were directly connected for him.

Graham’s discussion of his experience filming Heartland offered one example of how the healing and creative processes have been intertwined in his life.

“Very often, when I was working on the Heartland television show, there would be a character storyline for Ty Borden that felt familiar to what I was going through personally. I would find myself asking, 'How did the writers know that?' or 'How did this happen?' It felt as though there was a guiding hand leading me through the process, supporting my healing journey. I would wait for the next scripts and think, 'What is God bringing me now? What is the universe showing me next?' It wasn’t about superstition, but rather a sense of harmony between creativity and healing, I could feel it in my heart. It wasn’t that the script predicted I would crash my motorcycle, and therefore I was going to crash in real life. It was a deeper, more intuitive feeling of knowing.”

After Graham touched on his acting role in Heartland, I felt that it was important to delve more into acting as a form of creativity. In response to my question about how much creative freedom he has when acting, Graham shared his thoughts on the balance between personal creativity and collaboration in a team environment. He explained,

“There is a a beautiful balance within acting, as there are producers, writers, directors, network executives, there are all these different people that have creative input or creative say. I think what makes the best collaborative creative content is if we can uniquely all bring our perspectives, views and creative gifts pointing towards that story, that journey, that spiritual truth. There's a fine balance. You gotta do the best you can with what you have and sometimes you have to say this is not up to my standards or I don't feel comfortable going down this path. When I worked with Amber Marshall on Heartland we would have many conversations about this. If there was some sexual innuendo that was in the script and it was a little too far, we would talk about it and say we don’t want do this. We think it's a better, higher quality story if we leave this out. I'm very grateful to have worked with Amber and also to have been on the same page about that.”

Graham concludes his thoughts around this by saying,

“I think that's really important whether it be filmmaking or in life to have that shared vision and intention in your heart of why we're doing this.”

The Audience

Often, forms of creativity—whether it be music, poetry, or movies—are just as impactful for the audience as they are for the creator. These creations offer a shared experience that resonate deeply and foster connection, understanding, and healing on both sides. Graham touched on this as he says,

“It's a resonance thing. So by being open and authentic in your creative work, yes, it creates the best art, but also it's like a tuning fork. You know when you hit tuning forks and they have that vibration and you hold it next to another one, it starts vibrating as well? So this is how our being works. When we are vibrating, we are at a certain state of being and at a level of authenticity with ourselves. That's why we love to see live music or shows, it is a resonance. We're actually tuning in. As an artist you're not consciously thinking that you’re trying to tune everybody, you're just expressing and being authentic and sharing your gifts, and it automatically empowers others.”

Graham is deeply moved by various forms of creativity, but he shares that music, especially by female singers, has the most profound impact on him. He explores why that is, in this video.

Advice for Embracing Creativity

Graham reflected on the vulnerability involved in creating work that is deeply personal. Since vulnerability can often feel uncomfortable, I was curious to learn how Graham navigates that discomfort to create work that holds meaning for him and supports his healing process. So, I asked him, what kind of advice he would give folks to overcome the vulnerability that comes with sharing profound feelings and personal experiences.

Graham answered,

“So, you don't want to overcome vulnerability or push it aside. Actually, vulnerability is the superpower, as Brene Brown has has said before. What makes people want to get over that or push it aside is that there's a fear of judgment. A fear of being exposed to others and them attacking you or or targeting you or isolating you. And to get over that, you need to have self acceptance.”

Realize the Creativity in your Everyday Life

Graham offered more advice on incorporating creativity and play into everyday life, particularly for those who feel hesitant to begin or doubt their own creativity. He emphasizes that creativity takes many forms and is something everyone can tap into, regardless of where they start. He explains,

“First of all, you need to acknowledge that you are creative. You have your own unique level of creativity and expression. Let the misconception go that you are not creative just for a moment. Give yourself permission to create. Fully utilize the now, play in the moment, try something new, that will give you the confidence which builds the space for that childlike innocence and wonder to emerge. Cultivate that, and before you know it, you have your own unique flavour of creativity.”

Activities That Are More Creative Than You May Think

• Cooking a meal

• Picking out your outfit for the day

• Building a rock statue on the beach

• Gardening 

• Rearranging a room in your home

• Taking photos

The Role of Privacy in Your Creative Healing Journey

While Graham shared many insights and advice on using creativity as a healing tool, his most important point is that you don't have to share your creativity with anyone else if you don’t want to. While Graham has shared much of his creativity with people, he has kept other pieces completely private. He explains this in greater detail in the video below.

Life Lately

Through a chain of connecting flights leaving from Calgary, Alberta, Graham made his way to Australia on November 5th! Despite it being somewhere he has always wanted to go, it was Graham’s first time visiting this part of the world. He notes that,

“I loved meeting new people, and finding new spots, learning about new cultures.”

While in Australia, Graham hosted host a Meet & Greet with some folks who support his work. To show his gratitude for those who attended, he says

“Thank you to those of you who were able to meet me in Australia, it is always an honour to connect with new people, sharing good conversations and laughs.”

Prior to leaving for Australia, most of the leaves had fallen off the trees, there was frost during the nights, and mornings were very foggy in Alberta. This seasonal change was another reason that Graham was happy to visit Australia and get some more sunshine before the Canadian Winter sets in for the coming months. Alongside preparing for Winter, Graham explains that

“I have had some big changes in my life recently. I'm not ready to talk about them just yet publicly, but there's been some good changes in my life recently that I'm very excited about, very happy about, and inspired by. So when the time is right, I will share that.”

I hope that the month of September is treating you well and that you are feeling aligned with this season of life.

For those of who you are new here, my name is Cyan and once a month I sit down with Graham to ask him questions about his life, things he’s been thinking about, and the events happening around us. I then compile everything shared into a newsletter format for you to enjoy!

Summer Recap

Meaningful professional engagements, travelling, and personal growth experiences.

Graham explains that this Summer was a great season for him, full of exciting adventures, podcast filming, and inner work.

At the end of July Graham travelled down to Nashville, Tennessee for The Bitcoin Conference. RFK Jr. was one of the many great speakers at the conference and he incorporated topics of technology, culture, and policy into the conversation of Bitcoin. This conference was a great opportunity to connect with people from around the world and Graham made many new friends. Although Graham did not have a lot of time outside of the conference, he did have a chance to explore some of Nashville’s culture and live music.

This Summer was a season of growth for Graham. He focused on listening to his inner voice and the direction it is leading him in. He says,

“I've been getting back into auditions, and it has been fantastic to flex that acting muscle and get back out there, trying my hand at some new parts for television shows and movies. And I've really enjoyed that, trying new things.”

Part of this season of growth meant simplifying his own life, one result of that was the decision to close down the Mighty Networks platform and move back to Substack. He emphasizes that this decision was originally a real struggle, but by listening to his inner guidance he can now see how this will play out into what's unfolding.

“Listen to that guidance, see the blessings that are in store, trust the process.”

Graham also noted that one of his favourite parts of Summer was working on his podcast! He enjoyed the creative process and being outside shooting various clips.

“When I'm shooting my podcasts, I'm trying to make little mini movies. I'm trying to create scenes that are not just a podcast. It's something a little different. I want to continue to make the podcast more like a hybrid of an interview, but also like a textured film about this person. I don't know where it's gonna lead, but I can feel myself excited and inspired by creating that path.”

Changing Seasons

In Canada the month of September represents a change from Summer to Autumn. As we transition from the vibrant days of summer to the calmer moments of Autumn, our lives too are called to change and align with the seasons. This period offers a rich tapestry of experiences, opportunities for growth, and a chance to embrace new perspectives. I was interested to know how Graham navigates the changing seasons.

“How do you feel about the transition from Summer to Autumn?”

Graham -

“This transition brings me into a place of more appreciation for the Summer, for the weather, for the activities associated with the warmer season because I know it's changing and I know it's it's evolving. I used to kind of get upset about the end of Summer. Almost like an anxious feeling about the weather changing. Now I take the approach of appreciating when it's a cooler day.”

Here are some tips to counter the lack of sunshine and shorter days:

• Eat outside with friends or family, when weather permits

• Take a Vitamin D supplement

• Exercise outside - this can range from a walk to a full workout

• Meditate

• Prepare - from making sure the house is sealed well to stocking up on canned goods

• Simplify life

The emphasis that Graham put on this conversation was on preparing from a place of clarity, rather than fear or anxiety, and continually doing inner work. Graham explains this as,

“It's probably a good idea to store up on some food in my pantry or check for leaks in the windows that cool air is coming in. Simple things like that. And in in the internal world as well, just paying attention to what's going on inside. I try to always prepare for the changing seasons or for any sort of challenging time as - if it wasn't that bad, would I still be okay with this level of preparation? If it's not, if it's a waste or if it's excessive, then I think to myself, maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe this preparation is coming from a place of fear.”

Insights Gained

When I asked Graham what insights he has gained this Summer that he is taking with him into Autumn, he recounted his learnings from Dr. John F. Demartini. By taking a step back and asking deeper, powerful questions, we can balance our perspectives and avoid getting trapped in fantasies or resentment. Graham shares his own experience of feeling tightness around desires and learning to appreciate the benefits of not having certain things. This shift in perspective leads to a greater sense of love and appreciation for life as it is, rather than merely focusing on unmet desires or external advice to count one's blessings. Graham explains it as,

“I might not have x the way I would like it in my life right now, but what are the benefits to me not having it right now? I've never asked myself that question before. What benefits am I learning by not having exactly what I think I want right now? How is this benefiting other people that are in my environment right now? Will I have a bit more time for other people and things I love? Am I growing in a way that I never thought I would?”

Political Perspectives and Community Focus

Even as a Canadian, Graham follows US politics closely because of its global impact. In our conversations, he expressed a desire for a world in which love is chosen over hate and emphasized the value of respectful dialogues. He views the upcoming US election season, with all its anticipated chaos, as a backdrop against which he can focus on building community and nurturing personal growth.

Embracing Change and Finding Balance

One of the themes Graham passionately discussed was the concept of balance— balancing joy and sadness, activity and rest, preparation and spontaneity. Autumn, with its beautiful paradox of shedding leaves while preparing for new growth, epitomizes this balance. Graham encourages us to ask powerful questions to expand our perspective and appreciate the divine plan that often weaves joy and sadness together. A Summer Recap

Road trips, allergies, podcasts, simplifying, and, enjoying life at another level.

Graham’s seasonal allergies have been kicking in full swing this year, so he’s been taking some allergy medication and Quercetin. But as he says,

“I still have that experience of enjoying the the fresh pollen of the season.”

This season has brought changes to the Time Has Come Network. Graham listened to the message that was coming through, made a decision, and is feeling much more clear. We will share more about these changes later in this newsletter.

Graham shares that,

“I’ve really been enjoying my Summer because I’ve been shooting a lot more podcasts. I've had more time to do that, and, that's been fantastic. I’ve also been traveling around Alberta, shooting some podcasts, as well as I did the Bitcoin Rodeo at the beginning of July where I was a moderator and also helped with the technical filming of the event. So that was really fun. I also got to spend time in British Columbia, at my friend's cabin in Sicamous, enjoying some time on the lake. So it's, it's been a great summer so far.”

Life & Alignment

When I asked Graham if he is currently feeling aligned in his life he said,

“Yeah, I think so. I mean, that's that's the whole that's the whole game. Right? Stay connected, stay aligned, and for me that's it's always kinda moving into the silence. Resting into the stillness, resting in the silence, and just kind of listening. And that what comes up sometimes can be very challenging.”

Surrendering to the Flow

One of the most poignant discussions Graham and I had revolved around the power of allowing conversations and life itself to flow naturally. Instead of strictly adhering to a plan, embracing the present moment can bring about unexpected and beautiful outcomes. Surrendering to what is happening right now, rather than being overly focused on success, can lead to a more authentic and fulfilling journey. Graham spoke to this in regards to podcasts, acting, and romantic relationships.

Graham spoke about the unconscious influence of media on our relationships. He said,

“And so I've just been looking at the idea of relationships and how in my own life, whether it be through movies or culture or ideals there are fantasies that I have sort of unconsciously brought into my mind that I'm projecting then onto what I want in a partner. And, and I've just been witnessing that and then sort of, like, letting that go too, to clear myself and to be present with, a real honest and authentic relationship, as opposed to a fantasy of what it should be."

I had no idea this would give me a brand new insight and direction in my life.

A day later I was unable to put any weight on my ankle. It was excruciating to even move it. I am grateful I had a few friends close by that were able to help me out. Bring me some food, a set of crutches and make some arrangements for me as I was confined to my motorhome just south of Calgary, Alberta.

The good news was I didn’t break my ankle. Just a fantastic bruise that made it swell up like a balloon. It took about ten days for me to be able to put any weight on it again. Even then I was extra cautious as I didn’t want to resume activity too soon and re-injure myself.

I’m back to 100% now and grateful it was nothing serious in terms of an injury. It was however quite serious in its offering to re-examine my life plans and listen for guidance.

You see, I have been wanting to go on a road trip across the USA since 2016. Most people take a year off before attending College or University to travel and explore the world. When I was eighteen, I went right into film school and before I had even finished my film degree I booked the role of Ty Borden on CBC’s Heartland. While I have done lots of travel in my life, more than I ever expected, I had never taken the road trip that I always dreamed of.

Years later I finally had the resources, time and opportunity to make this dream a reality. I was going to take an entire year to travel across the Canada and the USA. Recording podcasts, meeting new people and seeing new sights was so inspiring and exciting for me to think about. Now was the time and I was going to make it happen.

Then I hurt my ankle playing soccer. A simply injury that most would just write off as an accident that would just temporarily delay their plans. That was what I thought until I took the time to really be honest with myself. Might there be something more to this than I initially thought?

It’s a very fine line between overthinking a situation and listening for the those so called whispers in the wind.

My litmus test is always to ask myself which is harder to do? Push through the doubts and uncertainty by unlocking a new level of faith and courage OR wrestle with my attachments and expectations to return to a place of peace and surrender with God’s plan.

In this case I could very clearly feel my attachments and expectations were rearing their ugly heads. So I sat and prayed, meditated and listened.

It was from this silent space I recognized something I hadn’t seen before. I was now aware of my desire to make this a journey with others. I’m sure many of you have heard the age old wisdom of the African Proverb, "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together"

I’ve decided to now spend my winter in Alberta while I plan and budget for a team effort journey across Canada and the USA.

Lessons Learned

There is a real juicy balance between having goals and surrendering to God’s plan. It can feel sometimes like I’ve failed when I realize things aren’t going to work out the way I intended. Then I take a breath and try another perspective.

“What if I needed to have these goals to get me to this point?”

“What if this was actually a success for God’s plan to make itself known to me?”

“What would my life be like if I simply used my goals as enhancements for God’s guidance?”

These were all new perspectives I played with from my previous insights and practice with asking more beautiful questions.

This is a new way of having goals and objectives that puts the so called “prize” not on the accomplishment of the goal directly but instead on the deepening of my relationship to God and the guidance I am receiving.

Will I also have situations that are extremely difficult and require great courage? Absolutely. Will I need to be disciplined and diligent with my time and resources? Of course. This perspective I am sharing with you is not an excuse to avoid the difficult circumstances or aspirations one has in life. It is simply a reframe of the reason why we do what we do.

I’ve often had goals that are to fulfill an unconscious need to feel loved and valued in this world. Then when I achieved those goals I was left feeling empty and frustrated that all that work had left me empty handed and feeling cheated.

When I refocus my intentions and align my goals with moving closer to God then the soil in which I plant my seeds of desire will have the exact nutrients they need to grow and become what they are meant to be. And I will be ready and willing to accept the lessons and blessings life is waiting to pour into me.

Human Made Versus AI Generated

I wrote an entire newsletter with the help of a new artificially intelligent program called ChatGPT. It worked. And it worked pretty well.

I sat there staring at the screen and asking myself if this was a road I wanted to go down.

How much do I want to utilize artificial intelligence in my creative process? Where do I draw the line?

The artificial intelligence did a great job with what I asked it to do. The more specific I got and the more details I gave it, the better the response was.

I used my computer’s voice to text feature to transcribe my ramblings about what I wanted to talk about. I then copied that text into ChatGPT and asked it to clean it up for clarity and increased engagement. It did a fantastic job. So much so, that I wrote an additional section explaining the truth about the newsletter and how it was created with the help of AI.

However, It felt like cheating to present something as my own when it wasn’t entirely. After I was all done, I sat there staring at the newsletter and it just felt off. So I explored myself and what I was feeling at a deeper level.

The process of writing and rewriting is therapeutic. It is like cleaning your own room. It allows the mind to settle into your own ideas and find the right place for them. By using a machine to do this, I lost this beneficial side effect.

I’m not against AI or ChatGPT. It’s a new tool and there are great use cases for it. I’m just exploring it for myself and looking to define the boundaries and tradeoffs that come with implementing this latest technological advancement.

I remember when I first started using Google Maps on my iPhone to get directions. It was great and felt like magic. No more having to remember turns or street names. No more fumbling with maps or asking for directions at the local gas station. Over time I became more and more accustomed to using my smartphone for navigation and looking up any information I needed in the moment.

This was helpful as it let me focus on other things and enjoy driving and talking with those in the car. I see AI as something similar to Google Maps. It can be a very useful tool for offloading some the the brain power required for a task. However, there is a tradeoff.

I’m sure most of you who have used the Google Maps application have at one time or another, experienced bad directions or been told to turn onto a road that wasn’t even there. While most of us wouldn’t blindly obey the turn by turn directions from a smartphone, some people did. I remember hearing stories of car accidents where the driver crashed the car because the voice on the phone told them to turn when it wasn’t safe to do so.

I believe this will also be the case with AI. We will have people who follow the suggestions from this latest technological advancement over their own better judgement and this will be very dangerous.

Does this mean we should ban it? Resist it completely?

No, I don’t think so. However, we need to create proper regulations as the genie is out of the bottle now.

Will AI take away some jobs? Yes, I believe it will.

Will there be a renewed appreciation for face to face contact and creativity in business? Absolutely.

There are people who can taste the faintest of flavours in a glass of wine. They become hyper sensitive to the subtle differences that most people would overlook. This applies to all categories of human activity. Those who spend the most time in an area, develop a higher resolution for defining the details and differences of what they are focusing on.

This enhanced awareness is already developing for people when they witness AI content. There are very subtle differences when interacting with AI content. The more you play around with this technology the more you can sense the computer mimicking human behaviour or styles.

The interesting thing I have found is that it becomes extremely hard to tell if you’re dealing with an AI when the output in very low resolution output like a social media post or a text message.

Start Game

As AI aims to cut costs and automate much of our lives, I believe we will shift into a more human centred value model. Those who are able to see, hear and feel another person’s needs will thrive in this coming world. We will gain new appreciation for the challenges of human relationships and creative struggles.

I believe we will collectively begin to demand more from our intuition and our ability to sense the heart and soul of another.

Others will explore the darkest depths of isolation and dependancy. As these technologies become more and more powerful, the products and services produced by them will be substantially cheaper than the human made or designed ones. This will create a similar dynamic to highly processed food and organic locally sourced options.

The effects will be felt in the long run.

Spiritual Growth Versus Mental Fantasy

The interactions we have with one another both positive and negative generate a unique and sacred opportunity for spiritual growth. This is what I feel will be sacrificed in exchange for enhanced pleasure and convenience.

This presents our collective consciousness an opportunity to choose what it means to be human. Relationships can be augmented into AI chat bots that tell us everything we want to hear.

Time to Choose

I feel you will need to make up your own mind where you draw the line. The reason I’m writing this newsletter is to offer this question. There will be tradeoffs with every path you take.

I see tremendous value in having this conversation as it will reveal the many hidden benefits that come from doing things ourselves. In my own life, I anticipate ChatGPT and other AI applications fitting into a similar category as a dishwasher or smartphone navigation app.

The most helpful use cases I have found for myself are organizing my thoughts about a particular subject or creating a starting point for my creative ideas. Similar to how when you open a word processor application there are templates for common documents. 

Whether you decide to use it or not, I believe it's important to know how it works and what it can do so you can prepare yourself for the world that is emerging and how best to navigate it.

As Prince says in the clip above,

“Don’t be fooled by the internet. It’s cool to get on the computer but don’t let the computer get on you. It’s cool to use the computer, don’t let the computer use you. You all saw The Matrix. There is a war going on. The battlefield is in the mind and the prize is the soul. So just be careful.”

Now that the Department of Homeland Security has lifted their vaccine requirement for entry I am now able to make my North America podcast tour a reality. I am very excited to be in the beginning stages of planning this epic adventure.

Finding Balance

It's going to look different for everyone. This is why I'm always encouraging people to look within and feel it out for themselves. Sometimes you need a coach or guideline to get you going but always return to your own compass. 

Strength is cultivated through determination and overcoming obstacles. However if we aren't able to balance our strength with our ability to adapt to our environment or adjust our approach we will keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

Sounds pretty simple right? 

These two opposing forces are meant to work together and yet many of us spend our time ping ponging between the two. 

On one extreme we can become too flexible and too adaptable that we compromise our own integrity. We end up wandering around waiting for someone to tell us what to do, what to value or what to say. When our flexibility and adaptability are out of balance we turn into a wet napkin.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are a few of you out there who know how to make things happen and push forward until it's done. The problem is we can't control everything and there are very often treasures beyond what we could imagine waiting for us to adapt and accept. Those who have an imbalanced sense of strength are in a battle with life to remove its chaotic nature completely. They miss out entirely on the blessings beyond our control. 

Look at this photograph of this path through the forest. 

The forest is chaotic, spontaneous and beautifully unpredictable. The path is measured, dependable and free of any debris or obstacle. 

This is a balance of these two opposing forces.

Time Has Come - Poetry book

I released my first book of poetry in 2013 when a coach I was working with at the time challenged me to share my writing with the world. I almost didn't graduate high school because I was failing my classes. My worst subject being english class. I blame it on my second concussion from playing football and the mixture of anti-depressants I was on but really I just had trouble connecting with reading and writing. It's funny how life will take you on a path you never expect.

The first book I ever read was Malcolm Gladwell's, "Blink - The Power of Thinking without Thinking."

My sister gave me the book and I immediately read it cover to cover. I was shocked because I had never found interest in reading anything my entire life. Sometimes we just need a new approach to something to find our own experience of it. 

I began writing poetry as a teenager as a way to process the challenges I was experiencing. I never told anyone and wasn't really concerned with rhyming, rules or structure. I just wanted to write as clearly and as succinctly as possible. What was initially just a hidden word document on my computer became the poems for my first book, "Find Your Truth." 

Years later I am blessed with an amazing community of people I write for weekly here on TimeHasCome.com and also on my Substack page. Life is full of surprises. 

My next book of poetry will be coming out early 2023 and I'm excited to share it with all of you. 

BURNOUT

For those of you who sent me prayers and best wishes, thank you. I could feel I was pushing myself too hard but I was unconsciously too attached to achieving what I said I would. That's when my body flipped a switch and shut it all down. 

I had some great moments of reflection sitting in my bed unable to sleep for the first two nights. 

As former producer of Heartland, Tina Grewal, once told me, "Graham, life is not a race. Relax and enjoy the ride."

In summary I took care of my body and am feeling much better now. I'm a big fan of the Medical Medium books and recently picked up his latest one, "Brain Saver." This juice recipe is amazing. Highly recommend it. 

I wrote a poem about what I learned from this burnout entitled, "Fuel My Fire." In the video accompanying the poem I explained more about the process of uncovering the hidden drive that caused me to ignore my body's signs. You can head on over to the "Writer's Room" or Substack to check it out.

As some of you already know I spent my summer touring Alberta with Kerry James. Along the way I met a man named David Parker and he piqued my interest with his knowledge of history and optimism towards our future. A homeschooled man and son of a preacher, David has worked in Canadian politics most of his life. He's had many notable achievements and successful campaigns he was apart of. His drive and determination to bring about more freedom as the pathway to human flourishing is inspiring and desperately needed. Thanks David for being on the podcast and having Kerry James and I along on the "Take Back Alberta - Sovereignty Tour.”

Where have you been?

Well let me tell you, I’ve had the best summer of my life so far.

Traveling around Alberta, visiting old friends, recording podcasts, making new friends and getting way outside my comfort zone. Feels good to see people’s faces again. Was only shouted out of one clothing store downtown Calgary for not wearing a mask. Bless that man.

It has felt great to be able to visit restaurants again and walk through stores that I was previously not allowed into without proof of vaccination.

I’ve also been working hard on my new social media platform for all my content. I’m sure many of you have experienced or heard about the scammers and fake accounts out there that are causing many people a great deal of pain and even financial loss. In an effort to consolidate my creative endeavours into one place while also protecting users from fake accounts, I have created the Time Has Come Network.

Rebirth vs Overpopulation

I remember first hearing the idea that the world is overpopulated years ago. That at this rate of consumption and population growth, we would essentially “break the earth” and everyone would die. So we needed to stop having babies and use less of everything.

At first I thought, “Well that seems pretty dire, but I guess it’s probably wise to be less wasteful and instead think long term with our actions.” This perspective though was not the intention of the narrative.

I won’t pretend to know exactly what the real agenda is but there are many documentaries out there that are all pointing at similar theories.

As always, I encourage everyone to ask questions. Instead of closing down another’s questions or ideas, simply hear them out. You don’t have to believe them if they don’t resonate with you.

We can argue about the statistics and studies but I ultimately use my common sense to see how the micro effects the macro.

If a large majority of the world’s population is unconscious to the effects of their repeated behaviours this will create problems down the road. If you don’t brush your teeth you’re going to have to deal with the consequences.

The solution is not to minimize the people with teeth or cut off the food supply but to educate people on the impacts of their decisions.

Reframe

First we must understand our challenge and then work to find the correct approach before we do anything.

“If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six hours sharpening my axe.”

 Abraham Lincoln

I believe our challenges are rooted in the lack of awareness of our actions. Within our own personal lives, our community and then the world. It isn’t about using less it’s about becoming more conscious of what we’re using and for what ends. We can make a shift without demonizing the burning of oil, mining of minerals or the consumption of food.

My approach is to reframe our challenges in a way that lifts people up instead of shaming them and blaming them for being alive.

Attacking Versus Attracting

Let’s say you have mice in your home. Most people would call a specialist to place some mouse traps or poison around the house to remove the infestation. This is what I call “attacking the problem.”

“Attracting a solution” would instead look at why the mice are in your home in the first place. Is your home falling into disrepair and there are holes for them to get in? Are there food scraps that are too often left on the floor?

Asking yourself, “What have I done to attract this situation into my life?”

The quick to judge and force a solution are often the loudest in the room. They drum up support with fear and then shame the suspected culprits.

“We are overpopulated, burning too much oil and wasting too much food! Reduce the population and your carbon footprint!”

I say instead we ask ourselves, “Why do we feel the need to show off our success with extravagance? What story are we living in that propels us to chase more without ever stopping to appreciate what we have? How can we take more responsibility for the functioning of our monetary systems?”

This isn’t to say we must live a poor quality of life. It is to understand why we are creating our lives in the way that we are. It is this unexplored question that drives a society into an unsustainable situation of consumption.

Telling A New Story

Our minds operate within the structure of stories. We cannot function in this world if we don’t have stories to understand what things mean. Viktor Frankl wrote about this in his book, “Man’s Search For Meaning”.

Most of us are operating within stories we haven’t consciously chosen. We are bombarded with narratives and perspectives that cloud our minds into submission and acceptance. We want to feel accepted and loved so we adopt these stories. We don’t want to be excluded from society so accept what we are being told as fact.

We have been continually programmed to act in certain ways and to value certain things. This is done through movies, music and legacy media corporations. This has never been for your benefit but to manipulate you into an active participation in your own servitude to the system.

Similar to how a food company will add addictive chemicals to their food so we buy even more. Even if those same chemicals will eventually kill us.

The problem is the story. We are telling a story that disconnects us from our actions and only focuses on the short term gain.

Rebirth

We must tell new stories and cut out the fantasies and lies that keep us starving and gasping for meaningful connections and ultimately prevent us from growing closer to a higher power.

This is not an overnight process. It begins on the inside. This is a step by step shifting of your direction towards more uplifting content, people and food. These small shifts on a daily basis will transform your life, then your community and then the world.

Dispell the lies and false beliefs that enslave you to an unsustainable life. Reject that which belittles your soul and true passions. Shed that which you seek to justify your past pain, and let go of what you think you must do in order to gain approval of others.

Honour your heart and tell a new story that lifts you up while being honest with where you’re at. Guard your mind from fear mongering while also becoming more aware of what conditions our world faces.

We don’t have an over-population problem. We are in the process of waking up to our power to shape the stories we live by.

This is the rebirth I’m focused on.

Vibration Is The Key

Everything exists within its own frequency.

New opportunities, relationships and even unexplained miracles. They all have their own frequency of existence and the key to unlock them is the energy or vibration that you are resonating with.

As a wise woman has taught me, “The keys to the kingdom are vibratory.”

What does it mean to match the frequency of the reality you want?

To be one with that which you wish to experience. To act as if it were already here.

Think about a guitar that needs to be tuned before playing a song. You must adjust the tension of the strings to create the correct resonance when you play it. This same principal applies to you.

You must adjust your state of being accordingly in order to create the song of your life that you so desire.

Stand on your head, dance to your favourite childhood tune or take plunge in an ice bath! Or maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed? In that case, try turning off the phone, write down all your thoughts that are worrying you and take a walk in the forest.

Then when you’re ready, use the power of your imagination to step into the life you wish to create by feeling it inside first!

I ask all my podcast guests my magic painting question,

“If you had a magic painting on your wall that allowed you to feel any feeling you wanted, to any degree that you wanted to feel it, what feeling would you choose and what colour or colours would you want to use?”

If you haven’t already, take a moment and write your answer down for yourself. Imagine you are explaining this feeling to someone else who has never experienced it before.

This question activates your imagination and puts you into the teacher role. Within moments you are now feeling the exact vibration and energy of your optimal state of being.

You can use this technique to craft your own energetic shift at any moment.

Start in the Heart

Your heart is where your intention is nurtured. The mind is where it is put into action.

As you reconnect to your heart you begin to tune into yourself like an old analog radio dial. Adjusting it ever so slightly to get the signal dialled in just right. Amplifying the music of the heart with the actions of the mind and body create the new possibilities for your life that you’ve been searching for.

When I’m confused as to what step to take next I ask my heart. '“Where I’m being called to serve?” Then use my mind to take any necessary actions that are in front of me.

It’s important to ask the heart this question as the mind can easily jump in with the expectations or conditioning from the world around us. Be patient and let your heart speak to you. The more you listen, the more it will guide you.

Over six years ago I met a lovely couple in Alberta who both carried around with them these massive quartz crystals. They said they could burst clouds with them and even had a special hard case they would carry these gigantic crystals around in. They told me each crystal had been cut to have exactly 144 sides and that they could summon Archangel Michael with their specific calibration.

I was skeptical but am always intrigued by the enthusiasm and passion that others have. It wasn’t until they passed along their email addresses that I took them more seriously.

ProtonMail is an encrypted email service based in Switzerland. I had never heard of it! I like to think of myself as someone who’s always up on the latest and greatest, so I was shocked that these cloud bursting crystal lovers were onto the bleeding edge technology before I was!

I never did experience the power of their cloud bursting crystals but they were fun to hold as they looked like a superhero weapon from the future.

Years later I’m still using ProtonMail and do recommend it. Popular email providers like gmail, yahoo and others are free because they scan your emails and sell your data to advertisers. ProtonMail doesn’t do that and they also have useful features like a calendar, cloud storage and a VPN.

I hope one day I run into that lovely couple again and see if we can change the weather with the power of their crystals. Until then I’ll just send them a thank you for tipping me off to a great email service.

Go Private

A truly authentic gift comes with no strings attached. It is an act of selfless contribution inspired from a place of genuine love.

Yet how many of us have used our gifts as a means of validation or control?

In my past I have fallen into this form of unconscious giving. These motives can be very subtle and often hide beneath our conscious awareness.

But what’s the big deal? Why does it matter as long as someone is given a gift?

There is a hidden power within an authentic gift that is lost otherwise. This power extends far beyond what anyone could do to manipulate a situation.

When the receiver of an authentic gift is moved by this genuine contribution they are given the opportunity to transform this energy into a ripple effect that impacts others. Now it has become a viral transmission of selfless love with unlimited potential.

The act of authentic giving aligns the individual with this hidden power that amplifies the bounty and blessings of life. Over and over again.

And yet for some people the act of giving is a form of debt they use to imprison another. Their gifts serve as social contracts they use to manipulate their relationships and serve their own interests.

On a global scale this manipulative behaviour is amplified accurately in John Perkins book, “Confessions of an Economic Hitman”. The seemingly noble loans of money from the International Monetary Fund to developing countries are the ultimate form of control as Mr. Perkins explains in his book.

We seek to conquer the injustices of the world but fail to see the roots of these atrocities in our own lives. We sow these same seeds of inauthentic giving with expectations and social pressures in order to achieve our own selfish desires. It only makes sense that if we collectively practice this manipulative behaviour, that those with the money and power to amplify this disfunction would do so as well.

So how do we give authentically?

We must separate our own wants and desires from those whom with we wish to contribute to. We must see our receiver as whole and complete and not someone who we must save. We must listen and learn what exactly is needed in the moment of contribution. We must give from an inspired place without attachment to outcome or reciprocation.

Empower your gifts with authenticity and allow them to multiply organically throughout our world.

Give yourself the space to witness what comes up for you in the moment of contribution. Are you feeling social pressure to contribute? Maybe you have expectations of validation or significance in the eyes of others? Are you giving as a way to avoid acknowledging yourself and the love you so desperately need?

This was what I uncovered for myself. I urgently wanted to feel worthy of being loved that I would give endlessly to others in hopes they would give to me what I only could give myself. This unconscious desire for acceptance and love infused itself into my generosity, making it unsustainable over the long term and led to an eventual burnout.

Taking the time to witness yourself during the act of giving will enable you to see any unconscious patterns that may emerge. This will then allow you to simply address what needs to be unified and balanced within yourself. Finally having the understanding of what was tainting any generosity in the past, you will be empowered to give more authentically each and every day.

Mr. Peckford is the last living architect of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. My favourite part of our conversation was learning exactly what it takes to turn our communities and ultimately our country around. I am so honoured to have had him on the podcast. Maybe you’ve been asking this question recently with all that has happened in our world over the last two years. While this is a worthy exploration, today I’ll be speaking more directly to one’s personal life.

Maybe you used to be much more outgoing, playful or adventurous and now… well not so much!

Without the proper tools to integrate and return to our centre we often make a temporary solution to a crisis a permanent fixture in our lives. Thus inviting imbalances into our relationships and our daily lives.

But there is always a way back to balance.

Your breakthrough reveals itself after your boundary has been laid.

-

When will you draw the line? When will enough be enough?

It was raining hard as I stumbled into the front yard of my childhood home. My shoes were water weights and my soul was blistering with the pain of my past. A bomb siren of heartache ripped through my chest. I knew something had to change.

“ENOUGH!”

I cried out in anger.

The earth moaned and the skies cleared.

I awoke from this dream and laid quietly in my bed. Something was different. I got up and looked around my room. Something had changed. Like a heavy backpack was removed and my spine was slowly correcting itself.

Walking around my room I felt lighter. I threw on my shoes and went for my workout. Pumping my favourite tunes and affirming myself and my freedom from my past.

Often in our times of pain or suffering we unconsciously choose to put on a heavy suit of armour. A way of protecting ourselves from ever experiencing something like that again.

This can be a belief, a pattern of behaviour or even an identity.

This way of being then becomes apart of us. Until one day the weight crushes our spirit or we let it go once and for all.

We turn and face that which we avoided and hid from. Now with determination and conviction, we make a declaration of a new beginning. “Enough is enough” and we integrate the lesson and grow from it.

This has been a repeating pattern in my life. One that I have come to appreciate when it presents itself. For I know that beyond the discomfort and pain of facing my patterns and fears, awaits an elevated state of being.

Freedom.

Let’s start simple…

Step 1

Recognize the loop or cycle.

This could be the moment where you get home and you have a drink or watch some television. It could be when you’re considering a relationship you know isn’t the best for you. You’ll know it’s an unhealthy loop or cycle by how your mind will go numb or become highly distracted.

It requires you to ignore the still and quiet voice inside of you that is always there but can be so easily brushed aside.

One of the simplest examples of this for me is when I go from checking my messages on my phone to taking a seat and scrolling the endless feed of social media. I know it’s in that moment that my mind has shifted into a self numbing mode.

It’s in the moment that I decide to sit down that I make the choice to go unconscious and repeat the cycle. And with every repetition the cycle becomes easier to fall into.

There will be reoccurring moments of decision for everyone. Some are simple daily occurrences and others are once in a lifetime opportunities to shift.

They are all an offer to take back your power and step out into the unknown thereby breaking the pattern of the past.

Step 2

“Enough!” Draw your line and act immediately. You must reach this point of heightened awareness to break the cycle.

This requires a higher level of energy. You must shift your energetic state in order to break the cycle. Everyone will require a different level of pain before they finally have had enough.

We all have the ability to shift our consciousness and therefore our energy in an instant. And yet so few of us use that ability break the cycles of self imprisoning patterns. Claim this power and use it.

Move your body. Use your voice. You must change your energy!

James Clear has a fantastic book called “Atomic Habits” with many great strategies outlined in it. As well as Dr. Joe Dispenza’s book, “Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself”.

Step 3

Affirm yourself and your new action.

As I wrote in my poem, “Build Your Belief”, you must see it in your mind and feel it in your heart in order to become it. Affirm your new destiny with sincerity, full faith and the joy of it already being accomplished.

This is as important as the previous two steps. Your acknowledgment and affirmation of your new state of being is what makes the shift a lasting one.

My strategy is to practice these steps on the simple patterns in my daily life. And as I master those moments again and again, I then find that the longer and larger cycles will emerge and give me the opportunity to shift in an even greater way.

Not all of these shifts happen in our waking hours. As I explained earlier, I had one of these shifts in the dream state. It was while I was asleep that I was able to draw the line and bring that conviction into my waking life.

Become a master of shifting yourself with the small things so that when the time comes for those larger opportunities to break free and expand you’re ready to take the leap.

Think about this.

Must you lose everything? Face death? Pay large sums of money? Years of heartache?

How sincerely you can contemplate this question will determine the price you’ll need to pay to answer it.

Movies like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Vanilla Sky” are great opportunities to reflect on the sacredness of life. The part of the story commonly referred to as “The dark night of the soul” is when the hero or heroine reconnects to their true power. They shed the false beliefs or identities holding them back. It is in these moments the audience is able to witness a condensed version of reality and explore this life lesson for themselves. These are the stories that inspire me the most.

Your dark night of the soul doesn't need to be the end of everything you know. Your breakthrough doesn't depend upon your life crumbling before your eyes. The only requirement is your sincere appreciation for the life you've been given.

It can happen when you are driving your new dream car and dressed in your best attire. It can happen when you lose your job, destroy your personal relationships from addictions and find yourself with a terminal illness. Or it can happen simply by taking the time to settle deeply into this moment here and now.

What will make you pay attention? Will you need to face death to see what you have been blessed with? Will you need to pay someone thousands of dollars for them to tell you what you already knew?

What circumstances will you need to bring all your energy and focus back to the sacredness of your life and the opportunities that you have in this moment?

What caused you to cultivate a deeper appreciation for your life?

Some may see these questions as a simple reflection.

However, those who have been through their own dark night of the soul will recognize the opportunity to avoid future pain by grounding themselves in that which sustains.

The true power of appreciating one’s life.

It's ongoing.

It's forever.

In case you haven’t heard yet there are now reportedly 60,000 truckers and approximately 650,000 people that are going to arrive in Ottawa this weekend. The movement has now raised over $7,100,000 on GoFundMe.

New Book

When is it coming out?!

I laugh to myself sometimes when I get messages from people eager to read my next book. For me english class and creative writing was my worst subject in school. After my second concussion from playing football, I began failing all my classes. To make sure I was able to graduate with my friends, my mom hired an english tutor to get me through. I also had to drop all science and physics classes and choose easier subjects to make sure I had enough credits.

Yet here I am today, writing to almost four thousand people on my very own newsletter. Life has a funny way of turning you inside out sometimes to give you a gift you never knew you wanted.

I’m still working on my grammar and punctuation though! Thanks to all those who keep me on my toes with that. 😎

Okay! So here’s what I’m going to do.

Since I’m still searching for a better publisher and printer of my book, I’m going to release my poetry and writing on the new Substack platform. It will be for paid subscribers only and will include my own commentary about my inspiration for each piece of writing. Have you ever over complicated your life? Made a situation more difficult than it needed to be?

Is it actually possible to simplify your life and accomplish and receive more?

Would a quick dishwasher test help you see what’s really going on and make sure you’re on the right path?

It doesn't work! 😡

“It’s broken, it’s dead, it always does this to me!”

Have you ever experienced that situation where your computer just won’t do what you want it to? No matter how many times you try, it just won’t cooperate. I sure have!

My father worked as a technical repairman for most of my life. He would often come home at night and tell stories around the dinner table of his daily adventures and mysteries that he solved.

One of the many nuggets of wisdom I’ve learned from all his stories is the value of keeping things simple and not over complicating one’s work.

After my father patiently listened to the customer explain all the ways in which they attempted to get their device to work my father would start by asking, “Is it plugged in?”

And very often, it wouldn’t be.

These were my favourite stories. Sometimes the solution is right in front of us but our mind won’t let us see it.

Keep things simple.

First Things First

I see the root of these frustrations with life all coming back to the need to master the fundamentals of our daily life. In the clip from “The Karate Kid” above you can see how Mr. Miyagi conditions Daniel to create a solid foundation for his practice of Karate. You must put first things first for any pursuit to be sustainable in the longterm. I know for myself, I would often be quick to dismiss these vital skills and skip ahead.

Burnout always finds those who forget the basics!

What are your fundamentals?

Coffee and a morning bible verse? Lemon water and meditation? Exercise and cold shower?

Practicing the daily self care and improvements can make a world of a difference in the long run. As many wise teachers have explained, the power of the a 1mm shift over the course of your life will lead to an entirely different destination.

A great book that helped me to create long term sustainable habits was, “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. It a nutshell, he explains simple ways to make your positive habits streamlined and your destructive habits inconvenient to continue.

Every so often I will feel disoriented and drained. I ask myself,

“What am I focusing on? Where have I been spending my energy? What fundamentals have I forgotten or need to implement?

Simple checkins like this can be that 1mm shift and realign yourself with the spirit and passion of life.

This has shown me time and time again how I can actually accomplish more by doing less of the unnecessary.

Life is a journey. The 1mm shifts will make a world of difference in the end.

Drained & Frustrated ➡️ Empowered & Driven

I was loading my dishwasher one day and a dish slipped out of my hand. It crashed into the others already in the machine and made an annoyingly loud noise. I was immediately at a level 10 on my frustration scale.

In an instant, I remembered the day before I had something similar happen while loading the dishwashing machine but that time it meant nothing to me.

I stood there confused as to why I was feeling so angry with the dishwasher today and yet wasn’t feeling that at all the day before.

Suddenly the “Dishwasher Test” was born.

What daily activity reflects your inner state of being?

I was now suddenly aware how agitated I was and had no real reason why. I took a moment and reflected on my day and what was going on for me.

By slowing down and paying attention to what was going on inside, I saw the area of my life I had been avoiding and what needed to be done.

I now use my “Dishwasher Test” and other daily repetitive chores as barometers for how I’m really feeling inside and to make sure I’m aligned and taking care of my fundamentals.

It’s a simple point of daily reference for me.

Digital Hygiene

And now for something completely different.

I’m often supporting others with technical assistance and insights to better maneuver our world today when it comes to computers and online life.

One of the challenges we all face now is passwords and keeping our online accounts and data secure.

Visit this website and type in your email and see if it has been compromised in a hacking attack.

If so, the best thing you can do is change your password.

And if that password is used on any other site with that same email change that as well!

Don't use these 🤨🤣

I use the auto password generator with my Apple devices that creates random passwords that are unique for each account. So if one is compromised, I can easily change it without needing to change the passwords on my other accounts.

What is 2FA?

Two passwords are better than one!

The digital world is expanding and like the progression of keys and locks, it is becoming more and more complex.

Just like someone can steal your car keys, our passwords can now be more easily be stolen in a computer hack.

2FA is short for “Two Factor Authentication”.

This is a separate key that works alongside your password. It is normally 6 digits and are randomly generated by an application. I use “Authy” for my 2FA accounts. It’s free and it’s not a Google product.

I try and stay away from Google as much as I can.

Enabling 2FA on your accounts is a wise decision and provides much more confidence when using online platforms.

Bitcoin Wallets

For those that are interested in Bitcoin!

A hardware wallet is like having a big bank safe in your house. This provides the individual with far better security. Centralized points of value (cryptocurrency exchanges) are great targets for thieves.

I use the Ledger Nano for my personal holdings. It has great software for mobile and desktop computers. They walk users through the setup process in a simple and understandable way.

They have built a great reputation for themselves and consequently have also attracted spammers so if you do end up going with Ledger watch out for any emails asking for your passwords.

I personally will rarely click on any links in emails unless I’m 100% sure I know the email is legitimate. If my bank emails me, I just open a new browser window and log in there.
